SPAZUNO
Carriers of the SunBeirut · 2026
Art exists at the threshold between the mystical realm and the world we inhabit. It draws us towards the mystifying feelings that are at once deeply personal and collectively human, reminding us that we do not face them alone. Art does not offer answers; its value lies in helping us confront what exists within us without turning away. It neither denies darkness nor glorifies it, but allows us to navigate through it with greater awareness.

Spaz is a Lebanese artist and muralist based in Beirut. Since 2014, public space has been central to his practice, which encompasses large-scale murals, painting and drawing. His work explores the unstable boundary between lived reality and dream, drawing on hypnagogic states, the moments between wakefulness and sleep. Through fragmented imagery and shifts in perception, he considers questions of identity, memory, presence and absence. Working across urban settings and exhibition spaces, Spaz brings these intimate experiences into dialogue with the shared life of the city.

Parallel Realms began with recurring experiences of sleep paralysis. Through a surrealist approach, abstract compositions, spray-paint pointillism, precise glitches and graphite drawings, the show moves between the conscious and subconscious, where fragmented bodies and shifting perceptions question what is real.

For Touch Grass in London, Spazuno took part in the group show and co-curated a collection of artist-designed skateboards.
